FINALLY, IN AUGUST, I WAS ABLE TO GET INSIDE THE NORTH WING OF BUILDING 50 WHERE THE NOVEL WAS SET.  BELOW ARE SOME INTERIOR PHOTOS

left is a hallway in the North Wing, Women's Ward.  Each alcove leads to a room approximately 4X6 usually housing two patients.
